Key Features of S32760 Super Duplex Stainless Steel
S32760 duplex steel provides exceptional resistance to chloride corrosion, high thermal conductivity, and low coefficient of thermal expansion. Enhanced chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen content deliver superior resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and other corrosive attacks. Performance exceeds standard duplex steels like 2205 and S31803.
This material resists various inorganic and organic acids, with copper content providing additional resistance to non-oxidative acid corrosion. S32760 also withstands strong alkali corrosion, though prolonged exposure above 300°C is not recommended due to potential material toughness reduction.
Originally developed in the 1980s to address corrosion resistance limitations in second-generation duplex stainless steels, S32760 has become essential for oil and gas development, seawater environments, flue gas desulfurization, desalination, and chemical applications.
The addition of tungsten and copper enhances corrosion resistance in specific acids and improves passivation capabilities in seawater. Proper thermal processing and cooling rates are critical to prevent precipitation of intermetallic phases and maintain optimal material properties.
